I hope all of our Mom's had a very Happy Mother's Day! I'm so thankful for Mrs. Horak and Mrs. Brinning for subbing for me and having the students bag their Mother's Day gifts for you. I'm grateful for Mrs. Clarahan for finding someone at the last minute. I'm also grateful to be back.
Many thanks to the families, and Home and School for the teacher appreciation gifts!! Those were such sweet surprises!!
During math this week we are going to have fun! I'll find out what they remember from last year concerning data, surveys, charts, graphs, 3-dimensional and 2 dimensional shapes, then, students will take surveys, create tally charts, and from the charts, they will create graphs. Finally, we'll look into the names of certain 2 and 3 dimensional shapes. We will take the end of the year math test at the beginning of next week.
During reading, students will continue working on their informational report and learn how to put the notes they take into their own words. They'll also organize their information into main ideas with supporting details. They will be detectives and crack open case files to draw conclusions. I have files for this, I think they'll like this. They will also practice matching vocabulary words to their definitions. They will play an ice-cream themed scoot game and will have to use context clues to solve the problem with multiple meaning words.
We have lots of catching up to do in science and social studies. In science we'll investigate different types of liquids and their properties. During social studies, they will learn more about non-renewable resources and label natural resources on their physical maps. Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a wonderful week!
